The Fiebing's Degalzer worked as advertised. I read somewhere on line to put masking tape around the soles of the shoes, and that seemed to really work.

Fiebing's deglazer took all the old polish, mink oil, and water repellants off my boots so I could dye them. Good stuff!

First time I ever dye a shoe. This deglazer delivers. New coat of dye stuck to shoe in no time after it was deglazed by Feibeng's Deglazer. When using stay in a ventilated area that's not too hot or this thing will just evaporate out of the bottle. Keep it capped while you're working on the shoe. I almost needed a whole bottle to deglaze one pair. Keep some because you might need to retouch with dye after you polish the shoe. Then just degalze the little area, apply dye and polish again.
